I’d been at the clinic for about ten minutes when I heard loud footsteps coming down the hall. I stepped out into the hallway ready to greet my patient. I stood there as Slade walked up to me followed by two large males that I’ve never seen before. One of the males was carrying a female in his arms. Behind them was Mrs Blackstone with a worried look on her face. There were about six enforcers behind them, their faces grim as they all walked. I didn’t know what was going on but I didn’t like it. When Slade stopped in front of me I said. Evening, Slade! I’m sorry but your enforcers will have to wait outside. I heard growls coming from the enforcers but Slade turned around and growled back, making them all stop. “Go outside and guard the perimeter if you’re worried about an attack. Mrs Loretta and her family need quiet while the doc is checking over her granddaughter. Besides if either of these males wanted to attack us, we wouldn’t stand a fucking chance with their abilities. Now go!” There were more low growls as the males left but they did leave. I turned my attention to the female and said. Bring her in and lay her on the exam table. The male holding her stepped into the room and placed her gently on the exam table. He brushed her hair out of her face before bending and kissing her on the forehead. He moved to the side and that is when I saw that she was pregnant. What happened to her? I went to the sink and washed my hands. I put on some gloves and began to examine the female as I waited for someone to speak. Well, don’t everyone talk at once.

* I looked at the others and both Lettie and Dom nodded at me. * My mate is witch, panther shifter and demon. She's never used her demon senses before, but she sensed that her grandmother was struggling. I think out of worry, she tapped into her demon side unknowingly and teleported for the first time. She's been gone for a few hours we found her unconscious. * The doctor nodded as he checked her over. He listened to her heartbeat and checked her vitals. * "Well she has a good heartbeat, and her pulse is steady. I don't see any trauma to her body. How far along is she in the pregnancy?" Around 24 weeks. * Julian nodded again and reached for the little machine they use to listen to the babies heartbeat. He looked at the others in the room and back to me. * It's fine, they're family. * Julian pulled Ali's shirt up just enough to expose her baby bump and then placed a small towel into her pants and adjusted them a little lower. Squirting the gel onto the little machine he placed it against her belly and a swishing noise filled the silence around us. He moved the doppler around her belly until you could hear a faint heartbeat. I stared at the doctor, waiting for a confirmation that it was the babies heartbeat. He gave me a slight grin and nodded. * "The babies heartbeat is steady too." * He wiped her belly down and talked at the same time. * "I think your mate is just exhausted and needs sleep. When she wakes up, we'll do a sonogram." * I let out the breath I didn't even know I was holding. * Thank you Dr.... * He grinned. * You can call me Julian. I'm going to start an IV, just to get some fluids into her body and then I'll start a pot of coffee. It could be a few minutes before she wakes up or a few hours. Her body just needs to recharge. * Nodding, I thanked him again. *
ReplyDeleteJulian ended up giving Ali two bags of fluids and still she slept. I looked at everyone as they stood around waiting for Ali to wake. Clearing my throat I looked at Julian. Do you think it would hurt if we moved Ali to my cabin? Once she wakes we can bring her back to have sonogram. Julian seemed to think about it for a moment before speaking. “That may help. She would feel her mate as she sleeps. Feeling something normal will make her relax. I’m only a phone call away.” I was dead on my feet and I needed to rest. I turned to Slade and he nodded. “Does the cabin you’re in have extra bedrooms?” Yes, I wasn’t sure why Beck had given it to me at the time but now I’m grateful he did. I turned back to Wade and Dominic. Let’s get Ali and go home. They both nodded and Wade bent down and picked Ali up and cradled her in his arms. Turned back to Slade. Alicia’s guards are on their way as well as my coven. Once I know she will be alright they will be going back to the Realm. His brow lifted. “The Realm? Maybe Beck knows them?” Wade stepped forward. “Beck? Are you talking about the Queen’s former guard?”

I'm sure he would want to know you are here. * Holding the door open, Lettie, Dominic and Wade carrying his sleeping mate headed out to Lettie's jeep. * I'll let him know you are here when I give my report in the morning. If you need anything, Lettie has all our numbers. Don't hesitate to call. * I opened the jeep door and Wade got into the back still holding his mate as Michael got behind the wheel with Lettie beside him. The large demon squeezed into the other side by Wade. I watched as they drove off. The enforcers came out of their hiding places. * "You're going to allow them to stay." * One of them sneered. I snarled and I got into his face. * Yes, because if they wanted to cause us harm they would have already. Now go home and get some sleep, all of you. * They scattered and I stood there, trying to calm myself. I read their minds. They allowed me in, they had no intent on harming anyone. They were both sincerely concerned for the two females. I was sure they were no threat. Agitated, I breathed in the fresh cool night air. I heard Julian come out and lock up the door. I waved at him. * Thank you Julian. * He waved. I could see how exhausted he was. He worried about his sister. Hell we all did. I walked towards my pickup and hopped in. Looking at the time, It was too late for me to go see Jordan, but man I wish I could hold her in my arms. I turned my pickup around and headed home. *
