* The doctor had stepped out of the room where Matre Blogis lay. He looked as if he had just stepped out of the nineteenth century with his fine haberdashery and top hat. The medical bag he carried was just as old fashioned. I sat in the front room of the hotel suite, swirling bourbon in a crystal glass. * How is he? * I asked the doc as he set his bag down to polish his wire rimmed spectacles. I think he wore those for dramatic effect, because vampires didn't need fucking glasses. * He is in awful shape. I have stitched up what I can. He is still restrained because he's quite dangerous in this state. He is unable to heal himself due to the loss of blood he suffered. * I nodded. * We should continue to have a host feed him? * He sure as hell wasn't feeding from me anymore anytime soon. * I have some contacts at a local blood bank. It would serve you best to have bags on hand and administer intravenously as Mr. Blogis is unable to control his more basic instincts. I will ha...

* The designated meeting spot was a cabin situated between two mountain peaks, dead center of both mine and Donovan Wilson's territories. We were all suited up for combat, knowing our weapons would have to be checked at the door regardless. Gabriel Jericho took in the area as I navigated the truck over the ruts in the dirt lane. Gina-Leigh Jericho sat in the back, her hand resting on Caiden Bauer's thigh. Jealousy unfurled in my gut despite my attempts to squash it. She did not belong to me. Period. "Seems like a strange location for a meeting." My eyes met Caiden's in the rearview mirror at his remark. "This has been the land of truce for centuries. Fighting armies meet here under a flag of neutrality." Gabe explained. Cantwell and my enforcers were behind us as I parked the truck. Humvees and another truck sat parked and I knew Donovan came early in an attempt to intimidate. I killed the engine. "Let's do this." Gabe was out of the truck without hesitation, opening the door to the extended cab. Gina hopped out and I watched Gabe tighten her bullet proof vest. I made sure my knives were tucked away nice and neat as Gina fixed the back of Caidens vest. She slid a black leather jacket over her vest and the cheetah did the same. "We'll follow you, Coop. Like enforcers should." Gabe was so confident, naturally at ease in charge. I'd seen him just as calm hurling a grenade into the resting nest of a child pedophiles property. Nothing shook him, ever. I moved to the front of them and made my way to the cabin. As we approached the door, it opened for us and two of Donovan’s men stood guard. Cantwell shoved one out of the way. “One of you, one of us. To make sure there isn’t any funny business.” I stepped inside and Donovan sat at a long table, his front to the door. He was older than me – old enough to be my old man – which is why he wanted my territories. His beta and enforcers sat next to him. Gabe and Caiden were at my nine and three with Gina guarding my six. We moved at the same time and sat down. Donovan and I stared at each other. “Cooper, you’ve become quite the pain in the ass. Literally.” I didn’t crack a smile. “I’m not giving you my pack. Or my land.” He shrugged. “Perhaps we can come to an agreement we both find appealing.” I snorted. “I doubt that, but I’m here in an attempt to show good faith and end this war.” He leaned forward.

* I paced the old abandoned church on the outskirts of Xavier Aureiux’s land. * Why aren't we just bursting into that house and getting my mate back? * Mongolia turned her face flashing with frustration at having to explain it to me again. * Because there are spells protecting that manor and we have to try to unbind them. The male who cast them is a strong one, but we sisters are stronger. * Madelina walked through the church, a candle flickering in her hands, the walls blackening with a dark shadow. She was a strange one as she had some type of white paint dotting her dark skin and wearing some sort of wrag wrap on her head. I knew it had a name, but at the moment I couldn't recall it. I held my emotions tightly to my soul. I was pissed at the three sisters and their not helping to get my mate out of that house. * Relax wolf child...she's safe. I see her with Miriam, but not Miriam. He fools her..tricks her. * Madelina’s eyes turned white as she was locked into her vision. I jumped as she yelled out. * Josiah! You will not keep me out for long. * I frowned as I watched and Mongolia placed her palm on my arm and I jerked at what I saw. My mate sitting at a table, her grandmother across from her and Xavier sitting at the head of the table. Sadie laughed at something her grandmother said. * Relax. It's an illusion. Josiah is a master voodoo witch doctor but he's not of pure heart. He wears darkness inside. * Madelina waved her candle. * Release Miriam, Josiah. Release our cousin. Release her and we won't kill you. * I growled. * Like hell? I want my mate returned and whoever responsible dead. * Mongolia shook her head. * You think with your love for the female. Xavier has cast her in the shadows. She doesn't know who you are. * I roared. * You're wrong. She knows me. Nothing will break our bond. Nothing. I feel that truth in here. * I patted my chest hard. * My mate may be under a spell, but once she's back with me….* my voice broke. She'd remember me..she would. She'd have too or I wouldn't survive. I wouldn't want to..I'd lived two hundred years just living, never loving, until the day my sweet Sadie had walked into Skye Blue on open Mic night and caught my eye. The LeFebvre sisters were wrong. She'd remember me and come back to me willingly. I watched as my mate followed Xavier into a big bedroom suite. Anger and jealousy rising fast within my blood. I shoved away from the sisters, breaking the connection to the vision. I didn't want to see anymore. I shoved outside of the church and crunched and slogged my way through the woods and swamp. I stopped short at the border that ran toward the mansion. Something powerful stopped my approach and I cried out as I stumbled back. I ran right into a tall black male with a top hat, silvery white paint smeared across his face and glowing red eyes. I jerked back and he snarled.* The Rougarou shows his face, at last. * I held my stance, holding up my head high, I stepped forward. * I'm getting my mate back. * He smiled, showing off a good tooth. * I don't agree. She belonged to ol' Xavier long time. Wore his brand first. You sure you can get her back? * I growled. * I know I can. * He stepped aside and motioned his arm dramatically. * By all means...go. It's your hell. * I snarled. * No worse than what I've already been through.. * I started forward when Monique dropped from a tree and squatted at the base. Her eyes glowing blue with her magic. * No Tanner. Not yet..its a trap. * I stopped moving and looked at her. * Madelina stopped the seduction. He can't touch her now. * Josiah snarled at hearing those words, his hands went to his head and he seemed to be having a conversation inside his mind. * No. * I moved to Monique's side and she grabbed my hand. * Tell Xavier we're here and we want both Miriam and Sadie and we aren't leaving till we get them both. His days are numbered. * Then we faded into darkness and came back to the light inside the old church. Mongolia met my eyes before looking at us all as a whole. * Prepare. We go tonight.

* The night drew to an end and Mamere stood. * Wait-- * I reached for her hand. * Please dont leave yet. I've missed you so much. * Xavier took my hand instead. * We gon to bed, cher. * He nodded and Mamere slipped from the room. I watched as she continued down a long hall and we stopped at the stairs. * I would like to spend more time with my grandmother. * He stopped on the stairs. * You gon get up deez stairs. * I followed him, unable to to stop myself. I hadn't seen Severina since she'd been dismissed after supper. Xavier held the bedroom door open and I slipped by him. His hand settled on my lower back and he tugged me closer. * Da queen is gon help ol' Xavier. And I can't wait. * He breathed me in, his nose trailing along my neck. I felt nothing. My eyes fluttered closed despite my lack of desire. He released me, closing the door. I stepped out of my heels and moved forward, removing the earrings. I slid the dress off of my shoulders, letting it pool at my feet. I stepped out of it, pulling pins from my hair. I slid a short robe on and moved to the bed. Xavier was there, his eyes glowing yellow, his pupils becoming almost nothing as they became slits. His fingers trailed up my arms as his eyes focused on my breasts. * Dat roogaroo is one lucky bastard...having sunk his teeth into you first. * His voice was rough with anger. He cupped my chin. * I'm just wantin a taste. * My arms felt heavy, my legs glued to the very spot I stood. * You were mine, Sadie. * His fingertips trailed along my shoulder where he had once branded me. * You have no idea, cher, what I have planned for us. * His slid against me. * A mating rash aint nothin' but a thang. * His hand closed on my neck and he tugged me within a breath of his lips. * Put your arms around me. * My hands slid around his waist of their own volition. His skin felt cool to the touch. My bare breasts pressed into his chest and he made an odd sound in his chest. His eyes locked onto my own as his lips pressed against mine. * Open. * He demanded and I did, his tongue sweeping inside of my mouth. It was as if my body was separate from my mind; my actions. He kissed me hard, and I felt nothing. His pelvis tilted against mine and the erection his pants barely contained pressed against my lower belly. His hand slid along my belly, and down to my panties. His fingers slipped inside and before I could react, a spark ignited and shot us apart. I shrieked in pain as I flew back threw the air, landing hard on the bed and bouncing twice. Xavier landed on the wardrobe, breaking it. * Gawddamnit. * He hissed, standing up angrily. Stunned, I didn't move. * Dis means war, sisters. Fucking. War.

* Friday night. Smokie was closing up early tonight. Business had been a bit slow and I heard there was some new venue in the area, I wasn't sure what it was but everyone had been, just no one really talked about it. I was curious so, When Rick , Daisy and Smokie said they were going and asked if I wanted to come to, of course I said yes. Rick had been acting all flirty with me the last few weeks. I flirted back but really wasn't interested. He liked extreme sports, MMA, stuff like that. I did not like fighting or anything like it. I had seen enough of it in my lifetime. Whatever this was Rick was juiced up and they all really wanted me to go with them. So the four of us headed to a place in the woods right outside of Darby. Someone had put up a shitty building, warehouse like. I remembered it from a couple of years ago. I had stumbled upon It when It still looked newish. I'd hidden in this place afraid Drake would find me and drag me back to McGregor. It looked dirty now and I got an awful feeling in my gut as I smelled old and new blood. Rick and the others grew excited, and that excitement seemed to grow as we got out of his SUV. Rick pulled me against his side and kissed my temple saying how much I'll love this. And as we got closer to the metal doors, I noticed the bouncers, guards with guns. I looked up at Rick and Smokie, my gaze searched their faces and when I looked at Daisy, I knew it was bad. The blood scent was fresh and they'd gotten so worked up over it that they all had elongated canines. I was in a kind of shock as the three of them lead me to an arena area that had been set up. That was where I learned the truth of what was going on. Apparently the show, as it were had already started. Two wolves circled each other . The area was surrounded by fencing and a guard here and there. My heart sank when I realized what was happening. Shifter fights, like dog fighting. I couldn't believe my friends liked this! I wanted to scream at them, that this was barbaric and wrong, but the fight was on, right in front of us. I felt my eyes bulge. Two female shifters, fighting to the death. I watched in horror as the smaller one was tosseed around and bitten. It came to a head when the larger wolf pinned her down. The smaller female shifted back to her human form, she was dying, right in front of us. I wanted to fall onto my knees and help the poor girl but, the larger wolf went for her throat, killing her and splattering blood onto my shoes. As the crowd cheered, I had to hide my disgust, my anger, the pain I felt for this girl. It took everything in me to not throw up for the rest of the night till it was over and winners announced. As we left, I looked around at all the exits, I saw a huge metal door that probably led deeper inside the building. I would have to find a way back in. Could I do that? I had been dealt my own death once and because of my gift I was able to walk away from my grave and find a home here. But now..My friends were all giddy with excitement from the nights fights. I pretended to have enjoyed myself and when they dropped me off I let Rick walk me to my door. He asked if I had fun. I had to swallow the bile that rose up in my throat before I could answer. He smiled and kissed me, said he'd see me at work and the three of them left. I rushed inside and locked my door before going to the bathroom to throw up and cry.*

I'm not sure if it was days or weeks that passed. Being locked up all alone inside a cold, damp, dark cell was depressing as hell. The only person that came in was the male named Griz. And that was once a day to dump a bowl of raw meat mixed with dog food on the ground by the front of my prison door. Not only did it look gross but it smelled rotten. I didn't want to eat but when my stomach growled from being empty I would gulp down a few bites to keep the hunger pains at bay. Sometimes the slop came right back up and sometimes my insides managed to digest the disgusting food. My water bowl wasn't filled up as much and sometimes it was left empty for long periods of time. It was hard to even think about anything remotely civil. The beast side of my life was beginning to take over the more I remained in my wolf form. At night I howled my sorrow when I wasn't curled up in a furry ball shivering from fear and overwhelming sadness.

* Cullen and I had had a wonderful few days holed up in our suite naked only leaving long enough to eat. Only to finally come up for air with Troy's text saying he had proposed and that Ezra had said yes. I'd hurriedly replied with cheers and lots of smiley, fireworks, and heart emojis. Then we'd chatted for a moment telling our best friends how much we'd seen of Belize..nothing much at the time. So we had gotten up the next morning and signed up for some of the fun things the hotel chartered for tourists. And over the next few days we did things we'd never done before. We did some snorkeling, parasailing, and took a tour of some the historic buildings around Belize, even did a little sight seeing and shopping for our friends and family. Now we were yachting around the reef and then going out to an island off the coast for lunch on the beach and then maybe explore some. I was sitting on the deck in a chair, stretched out absolutely loving the feel of the sun on my skin. I was wearing cut off jeans and a tank over my bathing suit, while Cullen was in knee length shorts and a white shirt. I was dozing when I heard Cullen calling my name. * Ash! Ashland! Come here..come see the dolphins. There's a lot of them. Come see, baby. * I got up and made my way to him. He was standing against the railing his clothes caught in the wind. The sight of him standing there made my mouth water. He was definitely the sexiest male is ever laid eyes on. I was a goner..always had been. I stepped up beside him and he wrapped his arm around my waist. I gasped stopping short and going breathless at the sight of the dolphins in the water. The view was amazing and the way they jumped into the air and did flips and turns, showing off for us, had me drawn in. * They're so beautiful..so amazing. * I pulled out my phone and started taking pictures adding to the hundreds I already had collected in my gallery. I switched to recording a video. * Bianca is going to love this. * Cullen agreed and soon the dolphins seem to fade away and we continued on our way to our island paradise for the day. *

* I made my way down a long, filthy corridor. It was obvious that this part of the castle was least used - at least it was the least cleaned. I had left the sniveling servant three flights of stairs up. Her wailing had driven me mad in the short time I was in her company. Fucking females. I was getting close to the dungeon, but there were doors that led every where and doors that led nowhere. My soldiers covered me upstairs, but down here, I was on my own. I was able to grab one of the fat soaked torches and carry it with me to light my way. Fucking Bolshevik and his obsession with the fifteenth century. The stone walkway was slick from moisture as I continued on my search for the dungeon. I could hear voices and I knew that Bolshevik had released his own soldiers to stop me. I made way through another tunnel, my eyes adjusting to the pitch blackness. I could hear rats as they scurried and water dripped. I kept my focus on everything around me. It wouldn't be good that I left my security behind. I just hoped the consequences weren't losing my life. I heard the soft exhale of a breath and without hesitation, I grabbed the vampire, using my fangs to tear his head off. I helped myself to his sword as I made my way further into the darkness. Torches lit the way. I could see the cells just up ahead. Most were empty, save for skeletons that hung in chains and torture devices. I moved further down, my body coiled and ready to strike as necessary. *

* Gabriel Jericho had reluctantly agreed to go with me and talk. That meant that Gina-Leigh Jericho would be coming along, which was great. Except Caiden Bauer would be right beside her. I didn't like the sly cheetah. I felt like he had slid in and taken advantage of Gina when she was healing. I knew, deep down inside, that I was no better. And that was the crux of the issue: I wasn't Gina's mate. I had zero say over what she did or who she did it with. But I had grown attached to the fiery little wolf. Her smart ass mouth and brilliant military strategies had been sorely missed. That was the point of this meeting. The opposing Alpha wanted to meet with me, my beta as well as the enforcers I had in my pack. It seemed like a strange request seeing as how we had been blowing each other up left and right. Military strategy wasn't my strong suit. Losing my father so soon had thrown me into a tail spin. I wasn't prepared to lead a pack. I listened to Cantwell and Gina when she'd stepped in to help. But Donovan Wilson was a greedy, backstabbing son of a bitch. His missive to meet one that perplexed me greatly. I pulled my truck down the path to our headquarters. We'd mobilized back to home base just two weeks prior. No ground had been gained nor lost. The truck splashed through mud as I finally pulled up next to the building. I cut the engine and climbed out. Gabriel did the same and I watched as Caiden helped Gina out of the back seat. She wasnt steady on her feet and seeing him gently supporting her as she swayed had me hating myself even more. I'd done that to her. My stubbornness had gotten her shot and nearly killed. * Lets get this over with. * Gabe snapped as he marched by me. I envied him his arrogance. Gabriel Jericho had always been bad ass. He never wavered in the face of the enemy. Strength radiated from him. I lifted the access door and laid my palm on a sensor pad. It glowed green as it mapped my hand print. The doors open and we all walked through. Soldiers sat at computers, monitoring the maps, speaking into headsets to dictate locations. I stepped into the conference room that was currently my office. Gabe sat down, Gina and Caiden doing the same. "So. We're here. To what do we owe this visit?" Gabe asked. I slid a folder over to him, all surveillance and Wilson's meeting request included. Gabe opened it and started thumbing through it. Gina looked over his shoulder. I waited, silently while they looked over everything within the file. *

After breakfast, Jake hugged Janie and gave Hope a kiss on her forehead. He left the house and smiled at Maxim and Milena who were standing by the hummer. He was going to the Demon Headquarters to talk with Zane about the mating removal. He knew Zane would be happy about it. Getting in the hummer Maxim drove and Milena sat in the passenger seat. “Jake are you sure you want this? “ Milena asked and looked back at Jake.* I am. It needs to be done so that I can heal and try and move on. It’s what he wants and since I didn’t listen to him before I will listen to him now. Even if I do move on he will always be in my heart. Milena nodded and turned back in her seat. Jake pulled out his cigarettes and took one out lighting it. Maxim growled and Jake looked at him. Don’t start Maxim. “Those are bad for you.” It won’t kill me. Right now I need them. They keep me calm and not all bat shit crazy. Milena chuckled and Maxim gave them both a look. I will quit in time but now it’s better than drinking right? Maxim opened his mouth but shut it. Thought so. Jake smiled and took a drag rolling the window down. About ten minutes later they pulled into the parking lot and parked. Jake took a deep breath and got out. The guard that locked him up and got smart with him opened the door for him and grinned. Jake just gave him a look but both Maxim and Milena growled at him. Heading to Zane’s office his secretary told him to go on in that he was expecting him. Opening the door, Zane smiled. “Hey, Jake.” Hey, Zane. “Please have a seat.” Jake sat and his guards stood in the back of the office. Zane nodded to them both. “Jake, I know why you are here. Are you sure you want to do this?” Jake gave him a questioning look. Are you actually asking me? I’m a little shocked that you asked me that. Zane chuckled. “To be honest I am happy that you want it done but you are hurting and for that yes I am asking.” Jake nodded. Yes, yes I am sure. Can you call the queen and ask her for the removal, please. If she asks yes she can take my blood, cause I have heard stories about her and poking people. Zane laughed, his guards chuckled and even Jake laughed a little. I will call her and see about the mating removal. How soon do you want it?” Yesterday? * Zane Kyllwood rose a brow at him.* I just want it done fast, please.

I woke up feeling like something the cat dragged in. I tried to lift my head but pain tore through my eyes as if someone was stabbing the shit out of them. Just then I heard a girl's voice asking me if I was awake. Groaning I managed to answer yes through my parched lips. She laughed softly before saying she couldn't wait to kick me ass. Frowning I thought to myself what the hell, besides I already felt like hell maybe if I closed my eyes tightly this whole situation would just disappear. Luck was definitely not on my side. I could feel her fingers grasping my upper arm and shaking me. With a heavy sigh and a hand to my head to help steady the dizziness I was feeling, I sat up. Frowning when my eyes finally realized I was staring at girl who seemed to be in her teens. She smiled at me and introduced herself as Lacey. "Water please" I requested and wouldn't you know the girl had a bottle sitting next to her. She uncapped it before handing it to me. I swallowed every last drop of liquid before wiping the back of my hand across my mouth and thanking Lacey.

* I climbed the steps to home after leaving Skylar Johns at work. I was looking forward to a hot shower and some much needed sleep. Things were hectic with Tanner being gone. I'd texted him but hadn't got a response. I unlocked the door and tossed my keys in the basket next to it. I could hear water running upstairs. Sabre Johns must have gotten home while I was with Skye. I climbed the stairs to my room when I heard soft sounds coming from the bedroom Sabre used. She was not alone and I had a feeling I knew who was there. No doubt Galen Kieschnick was with my sister-in-law. I personally didn't care if they fucked around, but Skye would blow like a volcano if she found out. I tapped a knuckle on the door. * Sabre? I'm home. * I heard soft foot falls and the door opened. She smiled, her face flushed and her hair mussed. Galen sat on the foot of the bed. He raised his fingers in a greeting. Something was off with these two, I could feel it; smell it. My eyes looked between them and then I saw the faint mark on Galen. * What. The. Fuck? * I asked. Sabres face paled. * Now, hold on, Mase... * I shook my head. * Are you kidding me? Listen, Im all for mating, but damn, Sabre, your big sis is going to pop her top. * Galen stood up. * It wasnt on purpose. * I latched on that. * Okay, okay good. Then we can go see Damon, get this removed and then we all might live to see another day. * Galen disagreed. * No. I wanted to mate her. It just happened this soon by accident. * I scrubbed my eyes. Shit. I didn't want to think about these two doing the horizontal mambo. * Okay, look. This cannot happen right now. Skylar just accepted that her baby sis is dating. She finds out you're mated, shes going to lose her shit. Mate later. Right now, we have to fix this. * Sabre shook her head. * No, Mason. No. * I grabbed her shoulders. * Do our lives mean nothing to you? Are you willing to chance this? Because Ive seen Skylar on the war path. I prefer not to be her prey. * My phone rang and I answered it, my mind trying to reconcile how I was going to Skye. * I'm sorry, a what? * Dispatch explained again. * Okay, we're going. * I disconnected. * Gotta an accident scene down at the falls. Want to go?
