* I left the police station and drove back to my office. I had maybe half an hour before everyone would be in my office. I needed to find a sitter for Thomas and as much I hated to bother him, Slade Michaels was my only option. I pulled out my phone and dialed him. * Hello? * He sounded like death warmed over. * Morning, man. I know you aren't in the mood, but I have some shit to deal with this morning. Any way you can take Thomas for about an hour this morning? * I navigated the road towards my cabin. * Sure. I'll come over and sit with him. But only if there's coffee and food. * I smiled. * There's always coffee. Food may be hard to come by. Raechel is pretty much pissed at me. I'll fill you in later. * He agreed and we disconnected. I pulled in to the driveway, and headed to unlock the office door. I liked that we had added an outside door for people to come in from so they weren't all traipsing through my home. Eventually, I was thinking of moving to the police station in town just to keep it all separated. I didn't like my mate and child being at risk. I pulled up and got out, unlocking the office door. I opened the door that led to the house and could smell coffee and breakfast cooking. Raechel Hadrian stood in the kitchen, her hair haphazardly tossed up on her head, as she stirred something in a bowl. * Daddy! * Thomas leapt up from the table and I grabbed him in a bear hug. * Hey buddy. * I rubbed his head as I sat him down. Raechel turned red rimmed eyes on mine. I walked over and kissed her cheek. * Good morning, mate. * She half smiled before she dumped eggs into a hot skillet. I knew she was hurting over Jordan. And I'm sure there was some fear over what I would do about the whole drugging mess. * Slade will be here in a few. He's going to sit with Thomas while we all meet. * She nodded, scrambling the eggs. * A meeting? 'bout what? * Thomas asked as he ate an apple. * Don't talk with food in your mouth, it's rude. * Rae told him. * It's a grown up meeting. * Thomas nodded. * Is it like our meetings? Where I gotta go walk with you and we gotta talk about what I did bad? * I nodded, half smiling. Perceptive little shit, he was. * What about spankin's? You gonna spank 'em? * I laughed at that one. * I don't think there'll be any spankings today, buddy. * He seemed bummed out over that. * I get spankin's. * Rae scooped some eggs onto his plate. * And you deserve them. * He looked disgruntled as she set strips of bacon on his plate. I poured coffee as the two of them went back and forth over spankings. I heard the doorbell and moved to get it. Slade stood there, looking relatively normal. * Hey, man, come on in. * I slapped his shoulder as he moved past me. He stepped into the kitchen. * Uncle SLADE! * Thomas lifted his arms above his head and they did a double high five. Slade ruffled his hair. * How's my little dude? * Thomas smiled. * Not so little! * Rae turned and she hugged Slade, whispering in his ear. He nodded, a bit teary eyed, but he brushed it off. * Got enough for me? * She nodded and handed him a plate. * We won't be long. * I told him as I guided Rae toward my office. She was reluctant to follow me. * Let's just get it over with. * She nodded. * I'm kind of like Thomas...when I'm ready, maybe? * I shook my head. * You'd never be ready and I want this done. * I stepped into my office to find that everyone had arrived. The office was silent. I nodded to Vincent Gaines as Chloe Cross shrank closer to him. Ian Holder held Meghan Danvers shoulder and Cole Ross sat next to Jules Corvin. Rae stood against the wall as I moved to lean on my desk. I eyed the females. * Mia has been banished as of this morning. * I saw the color drain from Chloe's face. * Now, as for each of you...I think it's clear that I'm quite disappointed in what happened here. And honestly, I don't even know what to do about it. Part of me wants to banish you all too. Just to prove a point. But that's not productive. * I looked to Ian. * Why don't you tell me what you think I should do? What can your mate do to make this right?

* I tried to hold my tears at bay, but I wasn't succeeding. I was partly relieved that Vincent said he wasn't leaving, but didn't want him becoming a Police officer either. It was a dangerous responsibility, though not as dangerous as having me as a mate apparently. Losing Vincent and Ian at the bar also meant I was going to have to hire more security. My heart broke a little more as it felt like he was pulling further away from me. If I lost him it wouldn't matter if I was banished, but I wasn't going to push the matter. I cleared my throat. * I just wanted to apologize for all the trouble I caused and I'll do whatever it takes to make things right. * Beck raised a brow at me and then smirked before turning to his mate. * "Rae, you're the only one we haven't heard from yet."
ReplyDelete* I Looked around the room at everyone and sighed.* I think it all sounds very fair. I have a child to take care of as well though. * Beck arched a brow at me.* And he can be with his father while I do my community service. I do apologize for not putting a stop to this, as, I should have. I acted foolishly and not at all like the Alpha female. I got caught up in the moment with my friends. For that I am very sorry and it won't happen again. * I swiped at my eyes, the meeting and thoughts of my sister weighing on me.I looked over at Cole and realized he didn't know yet and hoped I could catch him before he left, or that Beck would tell him. I turned and looked at Beck, my brows furrowed, hoping he would talk to him. *
ReplyDelete* I looked around the room, catching Rae eyeing Cole, then myself. I knew what she wanted and I nodded imperceptibly to let her know I would handle telling Cole about Jordan. I felt like the females were contrite in what had happened, and most likely would think twice before pulling another stunt like that again. * I'm going to allow the community service and the other suggestions to be your punishment. For ninety days. Raechel, Thomas can go with you on certain tasks and stay with me the remainder of the time. You weren't worried about having a child when you planned this whole situation, so he won't hinder you now, either. * Her eyes snapped fire at me, and I didn't care. * I'd have your permission to speak freely. * Her teeth were clenched. * As always, mate. * I gestured for her to continue. * That was a low blow about Thomas. You know I live my life for that child - and for you. You were the one gone for two weeks! * Her cheeks bloomed with color and I swallowed the need to snap back at her. * You're right. It was a low blow and for that, I apologize. You're an excellent mother and you take very good care of your family. I was gone for two weeks. Looking for our niece. And handling another situation that required me. Which, I'd like to speak to you Cole when this over. And as of now, this meeting is over. Vincent and Ian, if you will Cole and I just a few minutes alone, then we can discuss the job offer and what entails. Rae, please send Slade in when you head back inside. * She nodded and invited the other females to the kitchen for breakfast. They agreed, and I watched as they left. With that, I felt like that situation was behind me. * Vincent, Ian, you're more than welcome to grab a coffee. * Cole sat down and I sat behind my desk, dreading the upcoming conversation. I faced Cole as the door closed. *
