* The scene played out regardless of how hard I tried not to remember. Dressed in the traditional kimono dress, Jinpachi, the alpha of a rival pack had no idea that I was sent to kill him, if he didn't relent to selling his land. We met in public, bowing I greeted him, once we got passed the pleasantries he motioned for us to walk down a secluded path. The guard that followed us didn't go unnoticed by me. * "Senichi thought he could send a beautiful female to do his bidding, huh?" * Keeping quiet, I paid attention to our surroundings, knowing he wasn't finished talking. * "I told him, I was not interested in selling our land or merging our villages or packs." * Staying calm, I spoke. * Senichi is willing to double the offer and allow you to somehow rule beside him if you come to an agreement. * Jinpachi stopped abruptly and rounded on me. Anger stamped all over his face. Playing the part of a helpless female, I stepped back ready to draw the sword I had hidden under the layer of clothes I wore. I noticed that his guard had pulled his, we were in an old court yard completely secluded from curious eyes, the perfect place for someone to die and not be noticed for quite some time. * "Senichi, only wants to rule. He has no interest in doing it beside me. My pack is strong and I rule with a heavy hand but gentle heart. He would only tear them down, I will not sell my pack out." * In my heart I knew he was right. I trembled in front of him, acting as though I was scared. I knew what I had to do now. I backed away, bowing and appologizing. I ran down the path that we came up just until I was out of site. Slipping behind a large bush I slipped my kimono off, having worn my black ninja suit under it and hid it in the brush under the bush. Pulling my hood and mask on, I ran through the woods that lay behind the walls of the abandoned courtyard. Stopping only when I could hear Jinpachi rambling. Swiftly climbing a tree, I peered over the top of the wall. Jinpachi's back was to me. Quickly, I stood on top of the wall and pulled my sword. Leaping to the ground just in front of the guard. Taking him by surprise, I swung my sword and took his head off. I heard the audible gasp come from Jinpachi. I turned to face him, pulling my mask down. He stuttered, began to scramble backwards and then turned to run. Chasing after him I leaped in the air hitting him in the back with my feet causing him fall to the ground. He rolled over, using his elbows to hold him up and looked up at me. * "Please, I beg you! I have a family. A mate, kids and grand kids." * It crushed me, tears sprang to my eyes. I didn't want to kill the sweet old man. He didn't deserve it. I loomed over him my sword inches from his heart. * I'm sorry, but If I don't kill you, when I show back up at Senichi's cottage without the deed in hand for your land. He will kill my mom. * I shook my head, letting the tears fall. * I can't let that happen. I'm so sorry, I'll make it fast and painless. * I let the darkness slither through me, a mask of evil falling over my face. I could tell it in his eyes that he knew his time was up. Taking my sword in both hands I lifted it high and then plunged it into his heart. I watched as the life in him dissipated before pulling my sword from his body. It didn't take long. * "Kimiko! Kimiko!" * I felt my body shaking, my eyes sprung open and I set up straight in my seat. +Takahiro Yanahi DPI was kneeling in front of me, worry on his face. I scrambled into his arms, holding onto him as if he were my life line and I would drift away If I let go. He stiffened at first and then relaxed, wrapping his arms around my shuttering frame. * "Shhh, I got you."

Shhh, I got you. * I was reluctant at first to hold Kimiko but, the way she trembled as she held onto me melted any reluctance I had and I held her small frame in my arms until she calmed down. When she did, she pushed at me to let her go. Her eyes narrowed almost in anger and she rubbed her face with her hands and returned to her seat. I shook my head and returned to my own seat. I had finished reading all the material I had on McGregor, it's Alpha, the town. I made a phone call and confirmed we had a place to stay, a private residence. Everything was in place and a SUV would be waiting at the airport for us. As I put all the paperwork in my satchel, the pilot spoke over the intercom that we would be landing soon. I glanced at Kimiko, she was stoic and just stared straight ahead. I figured she was still upset and my heart went out to her, but she was also tough, a ninja. And I was not going to coddle a killer. I had to chuckle to myself. Kimiko looked my way and I covered my laugh with a cough. The plane touched down and Kimiko seemed to perk up, the thought of the job we were here to do must have made her happy because her mood changed before my eyes. Once the plane stopped, we were out, bags in hand and loading them into a huge black Denali. Kimiko set her bags in the back and walked away quietly. She got into the passenger side and after I got my bags in and settled, I joined her. Sitting behind the wheel, I programmed the GPS and started to drive.*
ReplyDelete* It was the middle of the day when we landed. Stepping out of the plane, I breathed in the fresh air and stretched, waking my body up from the long flight. After putting my bags into the Denali that had been left for us, I put my seat belt on and waited patiently for Takahiro. He closed the back end and got in behind the wheel. He punched the address of the house we would being occupying while we were here into the GPS and began to drive. At first we were both quiet, I stared out the window and watched excitedly as the scenery passed by. * "Do you want to talk about it?" * I looked at Takahiro. * Talk about what? "The dream? The crying?" * I hated the look he gave me, like he felt sorry for me. * It was nothing, just a bad dream. * I snapped at him. I didn't need or want his pity. * "Must have been some dream, you almost broke my neck, you held onto me so tight. Not that I'm complaining." * I glared at him, it was rude for him to bring it up. * Well I won't make that mistake twice. * Takahiro rolled his eyes at me and then focused back on his driving. * "You know you can let your guard down here. It's not like we have anyone from home we have to hide from." * He reached over and ran a finger gently down my cheek. My eyes began to water and I quickly looked away. If he only knew how much I wish that was true, but the only thing I have left is my sister. Senichi had no problems reminding me of that before we left and what would happen if I didn't pull off this mission. If only I could get Kaiyo to safety, maybe then, I could live a happy life. I decided I needed to change the subject. * So what can you tell me about this town were headed to?
ReplyDeleteMcGregor, a town of wolf shifters. From what I've read, the town has gone through hell. Kimiko's eyebrows shot up in question The old Alpha wanted a town of pure black wolf shifters, arranged savage matings and , there were a lot of deaths, murders. Kimiko shook her head. " And now?" * Well, now the new Alpha has really turned the town around. People are thriving, business is growing. * I pointed to some of store fronts as we drove down the main street through town. It's almost picture perfect here from the looks of it. I handed her a folder I picked up from the dashboard in front of me.* There's more information in here, if you care to read it. Kimiko took the folder and sat back in her seat to read while I followed the GPS to the cabin we'd be living in.
ReplyDelete* Opening the folder I began to read through the information we had. The pack had been through a very traumatizing time with the old alpha and beta. And I was surprised that I was glad they were able to to change things around and it appeared that the new alpha and beta had been good for this pack. What would if feel like I wonder to be a part of this close pack, even for just a little while. Well I guess we will find out. * "We're here." * Looking away from the papers I stared out the windshield and was taken by surprise by the nice cabin sitting in front of us. I had never seen such a thing. * Wow! It's beautiful. * Closing the file, I placed it on the dash all without tearing my eyes away from the cabin. I opened my door and stepped out. Breathing in the fresh air, my nose was assaulted by the scent of elm which seemed to surround the house. Opening my senses, I picked up on the peacefulness of the woods around us. A calm that I had never felt before seeped into my being. I heard a small chuckle as Takahiro walked up to me, he had keys dangling from his hand. * "Here, why don't you let yourself in and I'll bring in your bags. There are a couple of bedrooms you can choose from. Pick which ever one you want." * For a minute I let my guard down and smiled up at him as I took the keys, I made my way to the front door and unlocked it. Stepping inside I found a light switch and turned it on. I gasped, the inside was just as beautiful as the outside, I began to walk through the house and check each room out one by one. I could hear Takahiro as he set the luggage down. * "Did you pick a room?" * I smiled again at him. * I don't even care, they are so pretty. Both have an on suite bath." * Takahiro grinned as he walked towards me with one of my bags. * "Since you have the most stuff and this room is closest, you'll be taking this room." * I nodded my agreement and helped bring in the rest of my things. Turning to Takahiro, I halfway closed the room door. * I'm going to take a shower, unpack some things and rest. I'll see you soon. "I'm going to do the same, maybe we could go out for supper and do some grocery shopping afterwards? * My stomach fluttered. That seemed like something a couple would do, so intimate. I was sure my cheeks turned pink. * Okay.
