* I maneuvered the fan boat through the swampy waters toward the destination Virgil and Josephine had spoken of. I slowed as I spotted an alligator pop his eyes out of the water. I pulled a rifle from the boat and took aim. * You tell him..I'm coming for him. You tell him that if one hair on Sadie's head is outta place. There will be no place on this rock of a planet he can hide. I'll find him and he'll pay. * The gator let out a garbled growl and an emotion passed over his eyes as he nodded and sank back into the water. * I laid the rifle down and restarted the engine and started to take off, when the gator returned. I stopped and a pair of brown sandals was tossed onto my deck. Apparently Sadie had lost her shoes. I stared at the gator, wondering if I had an ally. * Shift. * I sat back and waited until the gator started to morph and suddenly a very naked and beautiful female was swimming in front of me as she tread the swampy water. I leaned over and pulled her into the boat. * Now...where's my mate? * She frowned and then tears slid down her cheeks. * I cannot tell you dat. He will kill me, for sure. Don matter none that I'm his blood kin. Though, I can promise she won't be harmed none. I promise to do my best to keep him from harmin' her. Go to the sisters..go on. They can be tricksters, but they will help 'cause Sadie is Miriam's granddaughter. I'll be keepin' her safe till you come. I be a promisin' that one. * I tossed her my hoodie, when she folded her arms over her chest, and she covered herself with it. * Then why the hell did you stop me? * She wiped at her cheeks free of moisture. * Because I wantin' ya to know that I have no part in his agenda. I want out. I want your help to gain my freedom. * I growled in frustration. * If you seriously wanted to help me. You'd tell me where he took her. * She shook her head. * I can't. He'll know. Xavier always knows. He has eyes everywhere. I'll probably catch shit for lookin' crossways at ya. More so for talkin' to ya. * I didn't know if I could trust her, but I nodded. * What's your name? * She slid the hoodie back off, and tossed it toward me, before she glanced at me and then stood. * Severina. Severina Aureiux. * Then she dove into the water and an alligator popped up as she swam away.

The boat whipped and turned as I traveled through the swampy waters. I focused on finding the sisters. My mate...my heart depended on me. I cut through marsh and lily pads as I slowed as the vegetation that grew on top of the water thickened. I pushed the boat as hard as I could, until I hit land. I cut the engine and shut the fan off. I put on a pair of rubber boots and grabbed the pole used for helping to test the ground as I walked. I didn't need to fall into the murky depths of the swamp. I trudged along until the sky darkened and the trees closed in around me. * Halt! You trespass. You either brave or stupid. What be yo name? * I inched closer and a tree morphed into the figure of a woman. * Stop! Answer the question. * I looked up at the figure standing before me. A Nymph. Don't see too many fae creatures these days. * I'm Tanner McCloud. I'm looking for the LeFebvre sisters. Virgil and Josephine sent me. Their niece, my mate, Miriam's granddaughter Sadie was taken prisoner by an Alligator shifter his name....* She growled and lowered herself down the tree to come closer to me. Probably reading me. * Did ya say Miriam's granddaughter? * I nodded and then felt a hand grip my throat. * You lie! Miriam's granddaughter has been gone for dag near a decade now! * That voice didn't come from the Nymph. I glanced over to see the tree opened up to show the inside of a cabin. In the doorway stood a beautiful but really creepy female. I fought to get air and struggled to get the wooden fingers from around my neck. * I...* gagging. * She...* gagging * ret...returned. * She waved her hand and the Nymph dropped me...then disappeared back into the cypress trees. * Explain yourself, wolf. * I moved to face them, as I gasped for oxygen. * She was rescued from a manicore named Carter Mansfield. He kidnapped her when she was 18..she spent ten years fighting off a rapist and trying to live so she could be returned to her Mamere. Some friends of mine saved her. Then I saw her one night at my best friend's girlfriend's club and knew she was meant to be mine. We fell in love and mated. Then we came down here to find Miriam and this fucking alligator.....* The female cut off my words. * We don't speak his name. He's a curse on our lands. Come inside and we will help you save your female, but you will owe us. Where's Miriam? * I shook my head and shrugged. * We don't know... She's missing. * Another female came into the room as I entered the cabin that looked a lot like the trees of the swamp. * He has her? * Again I shrugged. * We aren't sure, but it's possible. * A third sister stepped into the room and went to a crystal ball like object and spread her hands and white mist started to swirl around her. * He speaks true. Virgil says Miriam's been missing for the better part of eight years. Why are we just now hearing from him? He will pay for that decision, later. First we save both Miriam and Sadie. * I was motioned forward. * Come Tanner. I will need a drop of your blood to scry for our lost sisters. * I stepped forward and held out my hand. She lifted a knife and stuck the tip to my finger, slicing into the flesh. My blood pooled and a bowl was slid under it beffor it dropped. The bowl was carried over to an alter set up over a pentagram. The blood sizzled as she tossed in other ingredients and then said a few words I couldn't make hide nor hair of in Cajun French. I knew several languages but these words were eluding me. I watched and the sisters grabbed hands and chanted and then the pentagram took form of a map of the area and once they said Miriam's name and then Sadie's. Two spots glowed on the map. I took it to mean they were both alive but held in different places. * Time to go get our girls. * They said a chant and the room started to spin and curl into itself and then we were all standing in front of the fan boat. * Nice trick. Let's go.
